Bess Juroszek, age 90, passed away on October 20, 2014, at home with her loving family near her. She was the beloved wife of Oscar Juroszek.Bess was born in Tabernash, Colorado on January 14, 1924 to Evelyn and Frank Couzin. The family moved to Denver where Bess grew up. She attended St. Joseph Catholic schools, graduating in 1942. Bess graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver, Colo. and then worked for Carnation Company in downtown Denver for several years. In 1950, Bess became one of the first stewardesses for Frontier Airlines. This was a turning point in her life. She met the love of her life, Oscar, in Billings, Montana through mutual friends who introduced them on a layover from one of her flights. On June 21, 1953, they were married at the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Denver, Colo. The marriage was blessed at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, Wyoming.Bess and Oscar lived In Worland for one year before moving back to Sheridan where they lived happily for over 60 years.Bess was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church her entire life. She welcomed into the world her four children whom she loved and cared for dearly. Bess took her children all over town on little adventures, instilled the love of reading in all of them, and supported all of their activities. She was librarian at Holy Name School for a number of years. She later went back to college and took several librarian classes. Because of this she worked at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center as a library technician from 1970 until her retirement in 1997. Later, she enjoyed working in the book section at the Holy Name Thrift store. She especially loved driving around town with Oscar taking in the sights.Bess loved picking chokecherries, reading, collecting books, Saturday yard sales, picnics at the Information Center, dancing, taking pictures, traveling, singing in the Greek choir, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She took special interest in the activities and lives of her four grandsons. Bess was the most kind, caring and loving person the world has known.Bess is survived by her husband Oscar, her son John (Christine) Juroszek; daughter Regina (Dan) Juroszek-Smith; son Steve (Sheri) Juroszek; and daughter Susan Brophy; and four grandsons, Nolan and Spencer Brophy; Morgan and Mason Smith; Brother Nick Couzin, and her nieces and nephew.Preceding her in death were her grandparents, parents, sister Ellen Couzin Stratigos, and brothers Mike and Pete Couzin.A Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Kane Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Kristofek officiating. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Holy Name Church with Fr. Jim Heiser and Deacon Joe Kristofek officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church hall.Memorials may be made in Bess’ memory to Operation Smile at 3641 Faculty Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or charity of donor’s choosing.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
