Connie Jean Ponak Wilson, their third daughter, was born February 22, 1926 to Alexander and Alta L. Sharp Ponak. Her place of birth was Kleenburn, Wyoming; however, at that time her parents lived on their homestead at Gopher, Montana, where she spent the first ten years of her life. Her parents moved to Dayton in the fall of 1936, since drought and depression years made farming unproductive and unprofitable. Connie had spent her third grade in school in Sheridan and the first part of 6th also, as the older sisters had to be in town for their high school years.Connie finished her high school years in Dayton during World War II. She went directly from high school to Eastern Montana College for special study to obtain a teaching certificate. Her first year of teaching was in Big Horn County, MT. She attended the University of Wyoming and taught the following year at the Ohlman School in Sheridan County.Connie was married on March 2, 1945 to Jack B. Wilson at the Congregational Church in Sheridan. They lived for a time in Sheridan County and were transferred to many locations, all within Wyoming as Jack worked for the Wyoming Game and Fish. She worked for Stauffer Chemical while they lived at Green River; for Reynolds Mining-Texaco and also the Crossroads Inn while in Buffalo; asbookkeeper at the Sheridan Inn after their move to Sheridan in 1978. Also she worked a summer in Alaska for Miller and Miller Auctioneering of Fort Worth, the contractor for disposing of the equipment for the Alaska Pipeline.Connie was a member of St Peters Episcopal Church, Daughter of the Nile, and American Cancer Society. She has been involved in a number of volunteer services including hospitality desk at hospital, Volunteer Tutor program and Play Therapy, as well as various church activities and research for the Genealogical Society.Connie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vickie Lynn a son, Dennis (Buz) Wilson and one infant grandson. She is survived by her husband, Jack, children: Lana Cochran of Spokane, WA; Kirk B. (Julie) Wilson of Glenallen, AK; seven grandchildren: Debbie Cochran, Kelly Cochran, Jamie Cochran (Bill) Kowalski, Nacole Wilson (Jake) Hanson, A.J. Wilson, and KristalWilson (Nathanael) Bengtson, and Kirk Wilson, Jr. along with seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.Services for Connie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Peter\'s Episcopal Church with Father John Inserra officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with a Reception to follow at the Church.Memorials to honor Connie may be made to the Kalif Shrine\'s Crippled Children\'s Fund at P.O. Box K, Sheridan, WY 82801 or to St. Peter\'s Church at 1 S. Tschirgi, Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
