Craig Lawrence Sanders, 56, of Story, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the VA Medical Center. He was born on June 5, 1957 in Buffalo, NY to parents Robert Barkey and Mildred Lily (Stephenson) Sanders. Craig is survived by his two sons Douglas Sanders of Story, WY and Coleman Sanders of Phoenix, AZ, His mother Mildred, of San Antonio, TX, siblings: Robert Sanders and Sharon Harris both of San Antonio, TX. Two nieces and two nephews also survive him. He also leaves behind his beloved companion Meghan O’Connor who gave him some of the best years of his life.Craig graduated from Tonawanda High School in NY. After school he joined the US Marine Corps in 1975, serving for five years. He migrated to the Sheridan area in 93 where he settled in Story, WY. He enjoyed family gatherings around the holidays and spending time on his deck. Craig had always wanted to sail around the world on the open seas, meet new people, and enjoy life. He was one of the most honest people you had ever met, and one of the most dedicated Buffalo Bills fans around. Craig would spend most of his time with his best friend Frankie, a Medium Schnauzer, and before that a Pug named Rocky.A Gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of Flowers, Memorials to honor Craig may be made to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter at 84 East Ridge Rd., Sheridan, WY 82801.And as Craig closed out every letter or note he wrote, being the Bills fan he is;“Love Craig, The Bills suck.”Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
