About:
Daniel McClarn Blaney Jr., 70, of Sheridan, WY passed away at his home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 with his wife and friends at his side. He was born in the old hospital on Saberton to Daniel and Isable Kusel Blaney on Nov. 21, 1940.
He grew up on ranches in the Soldier Creek and Big Horn areas. He graduated from Big Horn High School in 1959. He was a member of 4-H and had grand champion steers that he showed at the Denver Stock Show. He worked at the Box Cross Ranch in Big Horn.
He married Agnes Tetschner on Feb. 4, 1967 in Sheridan. He worked for Pepsi, Nixon Feeds, Carroll’s Furniture, Spring Creek Coal and Sheridan College.
He loved to hunt and fish and spend time hunting with his son and grandson. He loved camping, riding four wheelers and lots of gun trading and shooting prairie dogs.
He really enjoyed his grandkids and always had a smile for them even when he was the sickest. He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited and the Sportsman Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his favorite dog Barney.
He is survived by his wife Agnes, sons Dan III (Kathy) of Cheyenne, Cory (Toni) of Sheridan. Eight grandchildren- Dan IV, Michael, Matthew and Joshua of Cheyenne and Hailey, Zachary, Emily and Madison of Sheridan. Sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley (Ray) Weinberg of Kalispell, MT, Carroll (Becky) Tetschner, Karen (John) Steir, Fern (Mike) Leach all of Sheridan and Linda (the late Raymond) Tetschner of Billings, MT,
Also several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and several great nieces and nephews.
He spent lots of hours at Little John’s Gun Shop because they were the best of buddies. He was straight-forward and straight-shooting!
Memorial service will be Wed., Sept 28th at 10:00am from First Christian Church with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating.
Dan’s cremains will rest in the church Columbarium and in the Big Horn Mountains. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
