Dann Fosher, 89, of Story, Wyoming left this world, after a long and full life, to join his wife, and life partner, of 68 years in heaven. Dann died, at Westview Nursing Home in Sheridan, on January 24, 2019 after a brief illness from complications of cancer and stroke.Dann was born June 25, 1929 in Manville, Wyoming, to Mathis Allen and Elizabeth Larson Fosher, who homesteaded near Manville. He graduated from high school in Manville and attended the University of Wyoming. He met and married Patricia Louise Terry in Laramie in 1949. After graduation, he went to work for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service and worked for them until his retirement in 1984. During his stint with the S.C.S., they moved around the state and spent time in Newcastle, Gillette, Casper, Glenrock, Big Piney, Baggs, and Evanston.They had two children; Glenn Fosher and Karen Fosher.During his time moving around Wyoming, he and his wife made and maintained many friends all over the state. Dann enjoyed hunting of all types, but his favorite was elk hunting near Baggs, Wy. He and his son made many memories while elk hunting. He and Pat were 4-H leaders during the years their children were involved. He enjoyed camping and trout fishing the many small streams in Wyoming. He was very self-sufficient and could fix most anything that broke. He loved his family and did countless projects and favors for each. He loved gardening and grew all types of food in his own garden patch. He loved working with wood and made countless projects including a gun cabinet, chairs, furniture, toys and later in life turned many wood bowls, urns, ornate segmented bowls, tops, and salt shakers. He was always ready to help people by using any skills he had. He made a podium, cross, collection plates and several other pieces for the Story Community Church. He did many repair projects for friends on broken wood items. He is known to be a bit of a pack rat and never liked to throw things away, as he might need them later. He was a long-term member of Lions Club and was active until his death. He spent the last several years as a full-time caretaker, with his daughter, Karen, for his wife, Pat as she declined due to dementia until her death in March 2018. His daughter continued to care for Dann as he declined.He is preceded in death by his parents (Allen and Elizabeth) His Son-In_Law (William A Mentock and wife (Pat). He is survived by his children; Glenn Fosher (Dee) of Gillette, Wy.; Karen Fosher of Sheridan, step-grandchildren Tom Klein (Kim) of Gillette; Rich Klein (Michel) of Cheyenne; Jessica Mentock Price (Allen), Devon Mentock Johnston (Jerry) and Katy Mentock Whyard (Ryan), all of Sheridan, and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his church family in Story. He will be greatly missed by all those he left behind.The family asks that donations in Dann’s name be made to the Story Community Church, P O Box 415, Story WY 82842 or the Caregivers/Dementia division of the Sheridan Senior Center.A celebration of life will be held at Story Community Church, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:00 with a reception to follow.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
