Edna Mae Bolinger, 89, passed away on August 24,2019, at home after a prolonged illness with her daughters at her side. Edna was born in Sheridan, WY on September 11, 1929, to Claude and Edna (Jones) Elliott.Edna was a life-long resident of Dayton and Sheridan, WY graduating from Dayton High School and Hineman’s Business School. While raising her family, Edna worked for Sheridan Iron Works, The Welfare Department (DFS), and retired from the Highway Department (now WYDOT) in 1988.Edna was a caring, nurturing person. She was an excellent cook and hosted many family gatherings. At Christmas, she baked many cookies, made candy, and her famous applesauce cake and sent a love package to her loved ones filled with just the right gift for each person. Her great grandsons really looked forward to that special package from Great Grandma. On each birthday, she sent gifts not only to the one celebrating, but to all the children in the family. Edna crocheted many beautiful afghans for family and friends. When each baby was born, they received an afghan. When she was younger, she sewed beautiful quilts for each of her children and many friends. Her crocheted kitchen towels were a hit among family and friends. She liked to go out to lunch with friends and family and was always vigilant to go to the place where everyone could get something special to eat.Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jeff; her sisters, Dorothy McDonald and Hazel Isabel “Izzy” Shaw. She is survived by her children Debra Clemens, Sherry Schwabauer, Cindy (Brad) Huson and David Schwabauer; step-children, Charlie (Mike) Lovejoy, Carol (Bob) Gridley and Cliffton “Gene” Bolinger; six grandchildren, Jerry Clemens, Michael Schwabauer, Amy (Bryan) Vigen, Scott (Liz) Huson, Seth Schwabauer and Spencer Schwabauer; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Carter, and Logan Huson; her cousin Shirley Schwehr and her brothers, Kenneth Elliott and Richard Osborn .Edna is greatly missed. In memory of her, spend time with a child or go to lunch with a friend.Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, August 30, 2019 at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery (Immediately west of Kane’s Funeral Home) with Pastor Chuck Gifford officiating. All are invited to attend. There will be a small reception to follow at Kane’s Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to Home Care and Hospice, c/o Sheridan Memorial Foundation, PO Box 391, Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
