Frederick Richard Chastain, 56, of Sheridan died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, in Sheridan. Services were Sept. 23 at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle with Pastor John Hopper of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newcastle officiating. Local arrangements were with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born April 18, 1953, in Newcastle to Richard U. Wolfe and Josephine (Prell) Wolfe, he was later adopted by Benjamin E. Chastain of Sheridan. He received his education in Wyoming, California and Japan. His life work was in the oil fields throughout the western United States. He was preceded in death by his father, adoptive father, and one brother. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jo and Ken Shackleford of Newcastle; two sisters, Bobbie Jo Stith of Newcastle and Carrie N. Olson of Sheridan; three brothers, Mike, Andy and Marty Wolfe; five children; and five grandchildren.
