Gregory A. Humphrey, 92, of Dayton died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Private services will be later with arrangements by Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Aug. 18, 1917, in Highland Park, Mich., to Robert and Gladys (Daniels) Humphrey, he grew up and graduated from high school in the Detroit area. He was employed in the mechanical engineering field all his working life. He was a member of the Bloomfield Township volunteer fire department in Michigan for 32 years and was a Civil War re-enactor for 20 years. Mr. Humphrey married Sharon Daniels in July 1984 in Bloomfield. The couple moved to Dayton in 1985, and he operated Humphrey’s Blacksmith Shop for seven years. He is survived by his wife.
