On July 12 th 2020 the world lost Helen Fordyce Hernandez, beloved mother, Granny and friend to many.Helen was born in Sheridan WY on March 13 th 1935, to Allen and Marion Fordyce. Helen went to Big Horn Elementary and then finished High School at Concord Academy in Boston Massachusetts. She studied Biology at CSU in Ft Collins CO and returned to Wyoming where she pursued her interests of biology with unbridled passion and energy. She worked her life ranching with her family, race horses, and polo and also in Texas as a biologist. She was employed by the NX Bar Ranch the last 20 years of her life up until 2018 as a game biologist. She had many talents such as horse training, guiding, trophy game management, photography, and thoroughbred bloodlines. She loved the land and wildlife and spent countless hours in the hills.Through the years Helen owned and raised untold numbers of horses. She worked hard at it and when she had a horse or horses she thought were worth the effort she would ride and ride them and when she wasn\'t riding them, they were eating large buckets of oats. She could get a horse very broke and handy as they come.Hunting was a very important part of her life, guiding hunters was something she took very seriously for much of her life, 60 to 70 years of it. Hunters loved to listen to her knowledge of game and great stories.She had 6 children. Marion Hubbard, Martin (Laura) MacCarty of Big Horn, WY, Greg(Vicki) MacCarty of Pryor MT, Brian (Julie) MacCarty of Sheridan WY, Molly MacCarty of Sheridan WY and Wendy Moore of Checotah OK. She had 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She has a brother Allen (Jane) Fordyce of Austin TX, Mike (Carol) Fordyce of Sheridan WY. She is proceeded in death by a daughter Marion Hubbard, Her father Allen Orrick Fordyce, her mother Marion Roberts Fordyce.Our mother lived life to the hilt, loved unconditionally and pretty much did it all her way! We are all going to miss her a great deal.There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Big Horn Equestrian Center PO Box 6143 Sheridan WY 82801 or The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter 84 East Ridge Rd Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
