Mary \"Ilene\" Welch Harvey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving daughters, Thursday August 4, 2016.   She was born January 23, 1929 to C. Golden and Ora (Meeks) Welch in Cowley, WY.  She married Duane Howard Harvey on July 18, 1948, after a 4 month courtship.  They were sealed for time and all eternity on August 21, 1968 in the Idaho Falls Temple.  She had great faith, and a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, serving others passionately in many callings throughout her life.  She especially enjoyed serving in the Primary and Relief Society.  She also loved sharing her musical talents in ward and stake music callings. She was well known in her extended family as “The Pretty Aunt.\"  She was a headstrong, independent, and loving woman.  She had a quick wit and a grand sense of humor.  Her “Ilene-isms\" are fondly remembered by many and will surely be used for generations.She loved her family first and foremost.  Her hobbies included golf, bowling,  ceramics, fishing with Dad, traveling, gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting,  reading and music .  She played the piano, organ and flute, sang beautifully, and directed many congregations and choirs.  She shared her talents freely.Being of strong pioneer stock, she grew up in the Big Horn Basin where she worked on the family farm, at the canning factory in Lovell, and in her father\'s mercantile.  She recalled fondly her years waitressing and often said it was her favorite occupation.  She retired in 1993 after working 23 years at First Federal Savings and Loan as a teller and then an escrow officer.   Whatever task or job she was faced with she did well.  She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents, four brothers (Golden, Art, Ford and Scott), four sisters (Helen, Maeda, Mae and Alys), two sons in law (Ron Petty and Roger Buchanan), and two great granddaughters, Arianna and Lily.She is survived by siblings John (Jane) Welch and Louise (Edward) Croft,  her children Cheryl Buchanan (Sheridan), Maureen (Larry) Legerski (Sheridan),  Duane (Debbie) Harvey (Millville UT) and Margo Heck (Sheridan),18 grandchildren , 25 (soon to be 27) great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Family was her greatest joy.Services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016  at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2051 Colonial Drive, Sheridan, with a viewing at 9 am, funeral services at 10 am and Interment at 3 pm in The Cowley Cemetery, Cowley WY.   Donations in Ilene\'s honor may be made to the Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, c/o Bishop Kim Anderson, Sheridan 1st Ward. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
