James John Leo
About:
Jim (James) Leo passed away peacefully at the age of 86 at Bighorn Rehabilitation on July 24th, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born on March 10th, 1939, to Tony Leo (Tommaso Capua) and Nellie (Ellen Morrissey) Leo in Sheridan WY. He was the youngest sibling of 7 children (one passed away at birth).
Jim enjoyed his youth with his friends which included being lost in Tongue River cave and many other adventures. Jim was a member of the Conquistadors car club that was featured in the 1962 Hot Rod Magazine.
He was a self-taught jack of all trades. His artistic abilities showed from his doodles on napkins to his passion for woodworking. He loved carving figurines from blocks of wood. Jim was known for his kind demeanor and would go out of his way to help others. Although being quiet by nature, he would also become the life of the party. He had a knack for playing the spoons and “air juggling” to make people laugh. He was also a great dancer, including putting on a show dancing with himself. He enjoyed spending weekends going to garage sales with his grandson.
He was always complimented on his great gentle smile. He also had a love for animals, and would often be seen with one of his furry “grandkids” on his lap.
He worked various jobs over his lifetime including managing the XL Tire shop, Decker Coal and construction work. It was through these jobs that he made many lifelong friends.
Jim married the love of his life, Sharon Woodhead on June 5th, 1959. They had four children, Deb, Jim Jr, Rob, and Tami.
He is survived by his children Deb Pfau (Greg), Jim Leo Jr, Rob Leo (Shirley) and Tami Jelly. He has 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his parents (Nellie and Tony), his siblings Tom, Kathleen, Eileen, Betty, and Josie.
Our family would like to thank the staff at The Bighorn Rehabilitation and Care Center and all of the friends that he made while he was there.
His family plans to have a private ceremony for family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of cards and flowers, a small donation can be made in his honor to the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan Wyoming, 84 E. Ridge Rd., Sheridan, Wyoming.
Champion Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
