John Joseph Kawulok, Jr., 90, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at his Sheridan residence.John was born September 19, 1928, in Monarch, WY to John and Mary (Sikora) Kawulok who immigrated from Poland. He grew up and attended grade school in Monarch and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1946. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He married Esther (Rowton) Kawulok on June 2, 1956. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on October 13, 1960.As a young man, he spent summers working at the Sawmill in Big Horn Mountains, Eaton Ranch, and the railroad. He worked at the Bison Bar for many years. After his discharge from the Army, he began his long career in the physical therapy department at the Sheridan Veterans Hospital. After retirement, he spent many summers mowing lawns for elderly residents.John cherished time fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time in the Big Horn Mountains. He especially enjoyed a good polka. He loved his six children and their spouses, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. He was a long life member of Holy Name Church. John was an amazing father, and we owe all our success to him and our mother.John was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, parents John Sr. and Mary, his sisters, Helen (Paul),Susie (Frank), and Mary (Bill); son, Daniel, and granddaughter Sara. Survivors include his children: Bob (Debbie) Kawulok, Cathy (Greg) Bealer, Jim (Jill) Kawulok, Dave (Melanie) Kawulok, Lori (Darrell) Ostendorf, Steve (Ann) Kawulok, Stacy Kawulok, and Tim (Donna Jo) Demchok. Grandchildren include Eric (Jessica), Rachel (Kenny), Dan (Paige), Brittany (Levi), Faith, Kaitlin, Zach, Jon, Tim, Ashley, Nick, Brandon, Michael (Clea), and Danielle as well as great grandchildren: Aria, Ruth, Olivia, Rhett, Isabelle, George, Theodore, Noah, Ezra, and Carter. A special thanks to the providers, especially Mikki Mathews, nurses, and staff at the VA Hospital for their excellent care the past six weeks. Dziekvje tato i zawsze bedziesz w naszych ser cach! Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Holy Name Church with Father Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.Memorials to honor John may be made to Holy Name School, 260 E. Loucks, Sheridan, WY 82801.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
