John Zukowski Sr., 96, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the VA Medical Center.John was born in Syracuse, NY on March 6, 1917, to parents, Charlie and Mary (Kunce) Zukowski. He grew up there and later joined the US Army during WWII. He married Grace Stimas.John enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking, swimming and spending time with his family.John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Grace, ten brothers and sisters, and granddaughter, Lisa. He is survived by his son, John Zukowski Jr., eight grandchildren, John Charles, Gail, John Joseph, Donna, Timothy, Stephanie, and Samantha, his eleven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Lisa, Austin, Zack, Cole, Morgan, Johnnie, Aubree, Caleb, Courtnee, and Timothy Jr., also three great great-grandchildren, Leandra, Ashlyn and Rocklyn, also by two sisters, Katherine and Helen.Graveside Services for John will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Dayton Cemetery with Father Jim Heiser officiating with full Military Honors.The John Zukowski Jr. Family would like to thank the Mountain View Living Center Staff at the VA Medical Center for taking such good care of our loved one.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
