Joseph Leonard Marshall, 88, of Gillette, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the Sheridan Manor Rehabilitation Center.Joe was born November 18, 1926, in Gillette and was raised on the family homested east of Savageton. He played football in High School and was offered a scholarship to go to the University of Wyoming, but work interfered. Joe loved his family and friends and loved to joke around with them. His fond memories were his teams of horses and loved to work and trade cattle, and loved to hunt. He had polio when the epidemic hit in 1950 or 1951 and was left with a bad leg and had to wear a brace all his life and never complained. Joe also believed in helping under privileged people.Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Beatrice (Fair) Marshall, brother Charles Marshall, sisters Virginia Swearingin and Pauline Hanslip. Joe is survived by his wife Betty Marie Kouba, children David, Michael “Mick” and his wife Cheryl, Dan and Joe, Grandchildren William, Robin, Jason and Virginia and 9 great grandchildren.Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 27, 2015, at the Family Life Church of Gillette at 480 State Hwy 50, with Pastor Martin Crump officiating. A reception meal will follow the service at the church.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
