Stanley “Stan” Groves Pilcher passed away Thursday, September 24th at the age of 71. Stan was born in Cody, Wyoming on July 7th, 1949 to Constance “Connie” (Groves) and Ora “Bud” Pilcher and was welcomed by big sister Marla. Soon to follow, the family would welcome Stan’s best friend since birth, his little brother Jay. The family spent the next years on ranches around Wyoming and Montana, but Sheridan County would always be home to Stan. Stan would spend the young years of his life raising hell with this brother and many close friends in and around Sheridan County. Stan and brother Jay would both serve their country in the US Army before settling back in Sheridan. Always the life of the party, Stan had friends everywhere he went and will be remembered for his jokes and stories sure to make anyone laugh. Stan would marry Gloria “Chick” Kelsey, they would make their home in Story, Wyoming and welcome three beautiful daughters Lacey, Carrie and Josey. Later they would divorce and Stan would marry Debbie Brunson. From that union Stan would gain 3 more daughters and 2 sons. Stan would spend the next many years in Ranchester raising his children and working for the town. After the kids were grown, Stan spent many years serving the foster children of Sheridan County. Next came his grand kids; there wasn’t any child that Stan wouldn’t love. After divorce, Stan would marry his final love June Hyde; from this union he would gain 1 more daughter and even more precious grandchildren. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Connie Groves Hawkey and Bud Pilcher. He is survived by his wife June Hyde; his children Lacey (Tom) Pilcher and grandchildren Gavyn, Skyler and Kolby; Carrie Pilcher; Josey (Curt) Pilcher; Courtney (Johnny) Romero and grandchildren Aryanna, McKaylee, Natalynn; Melanie Greer and grandchildren Gracie, Victoria, Lamoya; Sara (Charlie) Wiegand and grandchildren Lizzie, Olivia, Julianna; Jason (Killie) Singer; Barry (Sarah) Hickman and grandchildren Adele, Hailey, Mia; Dena (Mike) Wardle and their children Hannah, Riley; sister Marla (Rick) Hanslip (Ashley, Leonard, Gina); his brother and best friend Jay (Susan) Pilcher (K.C., Gates). In lieu of flowers, donations to help with final expenses can be sent to Sheridan Community Federal Credit Union in care of Kim Dart, 141 S Gould St., Sheridan, WY. A Celebration of Life service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00am with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating at 335 E. Montana St., Sheridan, WY 82801. A potluck luncheon will follow from 12-3 for those who wish to fellowship and share stories.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
