Susan Eaton Van Allen, 71, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her home.Susan was born on December 15, 1943, to Thomas J. and Nancy Eaton Ferguson in Sheridan, Wyoming.Susan grew up at Eatons\' Ranch. She married John Van Allen on June 16, 1967. Susan attended Monticello College in Alton, IL, for one year and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1966. She was an English Teacher, a business owner and very active in running the family business. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.Susan was a member of the St. Peter\'s Episcopal Church, PEO, Phi Beta Phi Sorority, National Society of Colonial Dames where she was the Wyoming Regent to Gunston Hall, President of the Gunston Hall Foundation and a long time board member of the Bryan Foundation.Susan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John Van Allen of Sheridan, WY, sons; John Van Allen of Ranchester, WY, David Van Allen of Sheridan, WY, granddaughter, Ava Van Allen, siblings; Patty (Charles) Kaufmann, III of Greenwich, CT, Bill (Karen) Ferguson of Wolf, WY, Thomas J. (Kim) Ferguson, Jr. of Sheridan, and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorials to honor Susan can be made to the Gunston Hall at 10709 Gunston Rd., Lorton, VA 22079, Bradford Brinton Memorial at 239 Brinton Rd., Big Horn, WY 82833 or to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter at 84 East Ridge Rd., Sheridan, WY 82801.A Memorial Gathering will be held at Eatons\' in the fall.The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided by Loretta Young for the past several months.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
