About:

Teresa Lanzetta Katsos Barker

In loving memory of Teresa Barker, a cherished soul born in Utah to Italian immigrant parents. Teresa passed away January 6, 2024, at the Green House Living for Sheridan surrounded by family. She was born on July 25, 1929, and was raised with her four brothers in Utah. Growing up with four brothers, three who were younger, she learned the value of strength, shaping her into a strong-willed woman who could keep everyone in line with love and determination, or the occasional ear flick.

Teresa married Eugene Barker on December 9, 1951, and they raised their four children in Sheridan, Wyoming. Together, they created a home where the door was always open and provided a haven for family and friends alike. She stayed home raising her children during the 1950s and began working outside of the home through the 1960s and 1970s at the Cloverleaf Bakery and Quick Printing in Sheridan.

Her legacy extends beyond the walls of her own home, as Teresa's nurturing touch reached countless children throughout Sheridan County. Starting in the 1980s, she continued a journey of caring by offering her babysitting services, a role that evolved to include not only her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also numerous other youngsters in the community. Her dedication to fostering the well-being of these children continued until the early 2000s, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and lives of those she touched.

Known for her kindness and compassion, Teresa had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her. Whether through comforting foods like homemade waffles, cookies, or mac & cheese, her snacks and lunches will forever be remembered by family and friends. Even in her sixties, she was still young at heart, showcased by spirited somersaults, a testament to her lively spirit. Teresa's legacy of warmth extended to her playful sense of humor, often expressed through lighthearted teasing that never failed to elicit smiles from friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers Anthony Lanzetta and Andy Katsos. Teresa is also joined by her beloved son Dave Barker and son-in-law Doug Taylor. Her husband, Eugene Barker, also preceded her in passing, marking the poignant end of the "Barker Brothers and Wives” generation.

She is survived by her two brothers George Katsos and James Katsos; three children Geni Barker, Mary Masters, and Barbara Taylor; daughter-in-law Linda Barker; grandchildren Tracy Masters, Andrea Sanders (Drew), Jillian Evanoff (Matt), Kayleen Masters (Brian), Jeffrey Barker, Tommi Ritterbusch (Grant), and Manny Barker; great grandchildren Caden Masters, Tyler Gilmore, Ethan Gilmore, Ruthie Evanoff, Emmerson Barker, Jack Ritterbusch and Ruby Ritterbusch; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and the enduring spirit of family. Teresa touched the hearts of those around her with grace and warmth. Per her request there will be no services. Donations in her honor can be made to the Green House Living for Sheridan at 2311 Shirley Cove Sheridan, WY 82801.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Green House for their care during Teresa’s time there and their support of the family during her passing.
