Berdi Hilderman Marquez, a longtime resident of Monte Vista, CO, and more recent resident of Sheridan, WY, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2026 after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Berdi was born on January 7, in Billings, MT, to Harry and Lucille (Harding) Hilderman. She grew up in Park City, MT, where she attended Park City schools. From an early age, Berdi was known for her strong connection to family. She was a true daddy’s girl and loved helping her father with cars and chores. Those early experiences became cherished memories and reflected the caring, hands-on spirit she carried throughout her life.

In 1993, Berdi married Scott Marquez in Monte Vista, CO. Together, they built a life filled with family, animals, laughter, and countless adventures. Their time together was often spent outdoors—camping, fishing, riding the side-by-side, or simply taking a drive in the truck to see what wildlife they might find.

For Berdi, it was never necessarily about the destination; the joy was in being together and enjoying the journey.

Berdi had a deep love for the outdoors and the animals that surrounded her. One of her favorite places was the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, where she enjoyed driving through the refuge with Scott to watch the elk and sandhill cranes. She also treasured family traditions, including Bs on the P, and loved gathering around the table for a good game of cards with family and friends.

Nothing brought Berdi greater happiness than spending time with the people she loved. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Visiting her daughter and grandchildren was especially important to her, and she was always willing to travel wherever they were simply to spend time together and be part of their lives.

Berdi also cherished her relationships with her sisters. She and Scott would travel over the mountain to visit Kay, or head north to spend time with Becky, while family gatherings with Darlene were equally special. Camping trips with her niece were another tradition she looked forward to and treasured.

Her love for animals was evident throughout her life. Berdi rarely went anywhere without a beloved pet by her side. Joey, Gage, Fisher, Maggie, Muffin, Curly Sue, and many others were treasured companions who brought her great happiness. Her compassion extended far beyond her own pets. Berdi spent many days grooming pets throughout the community, caring for each animal with patience, kindness, and genuine affection.

Berdi is survived by her husband, Scott Marquez; daughter Luci (Adam) Creery; grandchildren Cole Logsdon, Keyona Logsdon, Peyton (Melissa) Creery, Hunter (Emma) Creery, Lucas Creery, Farrah (Garrett) McCormick, Chet Creery, Owen Creery, and MariLou Creery; and great-granddaughter Junie Creery.

She is also survived by her siblings, Harry (Sue) Hilderman and Becky (Dennis) O’Reilly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including Becky Raiha, Penny (Joey) Waller, Josh (Julie) Stewart, Ryan (Geraldine) O’Reilly, Brittany Hilderman. Taylor (Tre) LaBossiere, Grady Bess, and Hadly Raiha, Baylee Raiha, Ila and Shae O’Reilly.

Berdi was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lucille Hilderman; sisters Kay Stewart and Darlene Gunther; and her son, Garrick Logsdon.

Berdi will be laid to rest beside her father in Park City, MT. Graveside service at 11am at the Park City Cemetery with Celebration of Life to follow on Saturday, August 29th. Park City Civic Center 21 2nd Ave SW Park City, MT.
