Betty L. Alden, 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at home with family by her side. Betty was born on September 25, 1942 to A. Thomas and Fern (Hill) Wulff in Fort Dodge, IA. The family moved to Red Wing, MN where she grew up with her five siblings. She graduated from Central High School in 1960 and graduated from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN in 1963. After nurse’s training, she married Floyd Olson and they had two children, Kimberly and Erik. In 1970, she and the family moved to Sheridan, WY. Betty worked at the VA hospital and also at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.In 1977, she married Larry Alden and worked in the Real Estate business for several years and has managed rental properties for the past 35 years. Both enjoyed traveling to watch all their children compete in swim meets, and basketball and football games. Betty\'s love of the water took them on trips to snorkel and kayak, and she also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Tongue River Reservoir. Her love of nature led her to enjoy photography and share with others our beautiful landscapes. She enjoyed writing, flower gardening and music. Betty\'s most prized passion of all was listening to and playing classical music on her piano and attending local concerts. She has been involved with her church and has led and attended many Bible study groups, which has been so important to her faith. Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter AM, Life Link of Sheridan Co., and Republican Women.She was preceded in death by her parents and step-son Thomas Alden. Betty is survived by her husband Larry of 36 years; children, Kimberly Kozel, of Sheridan and Erik (Katie) Olson and their children: Jake, Kendall, and Avery of Snohomish, WA; step-children: Julie (Curt) Dahlin and children: Ashley, Justin, Paxton, Alex, and Jace; David (Toni) Alden and children Lauren and Davis; and James Alden all of Sheridan; and Brenda (Mark) Miller and children: Alyssa and Mariah of Cheyenne, WY. She is also survived by siblings: Martha (Garry) Blomberg of Oshkosh, WI, Alan (Nancy) Wulff and Grant (Mary) Wulff of Red Wing, MN, LaVonne (Pete) Komlos of Appleton, WI, and Thomas (Kathy) Wulff of Middleton, WI, brother in law, Bruce Alden, of Sheridan, WY and numerous nieces and nephews.A Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Doug Melius officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Elks Memorial Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church.
