Carmen Erlys Neard, age 84 of Glendive, Montana, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 surrounded by family at her home, she was formerly of Sheridan, Wyoming.
Erlys was born on December 11, 1937 in Hannah, ND, to Carmen and Florence Hunt. She was raised and educated in Crosby, ND, graduating in 1956, where she was a majorette and played percussion in the band. After graduation she moved to Sheridan, WY, with her family.
While working at the local drug store in Sheridan, she served a soda to her soon to be husband Oakly Neard. On June 16th 1958, they were united in marriage, and spent time in Ellendale and Minot where Oakly was finishing his degree. While in Ellendale, they welcomed their first child Wendy, then moved to Sawyer, ND, where their son Aaron joined the family. A few years later they moved to Kaycee, Wyoming, where they resided for 21 years. While in Kaycee, she worked in the school library. After retirement they moved to Minot, ND, for 9 years, but eventually ended up in Glendive, MT, where they became a big part of their son Aaron’s and his children’s lives.

You always knew she was present because of her sense of love for fashion. Erlys had a big heart and a trusted ear, people felt comfortable talking with her. She enjoyed her long talks, laughs and just being silly with all of her family.
