Bill Switzer, 90, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018 in his home.  He was born in Rockypoint, WY on March 7, 1928 & was the youngest of 4 siblings.  Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie J. Switzer (April 2017) and his son, Neil Patrick Switzer (July 1974).  He is also preceded in death by father, Clarence E. Switzer & mother, Helen Jane (Nellie) and 3 sisters, Melpha Kubacher, Norma Kelly & Mary Fisher. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Sidney, Nebraska.   He met the love of his life, Bonnie Nielsen, in Gillette, WY before joining the Navy in 1950, where he was based on a troop transport - the USS General J.C. Breckinridge.He married Bonnie on October 15, 1951.  Bill lived and worked on ranches near Gillette until 1960 when he moved his family to Sheridan. He attended barber college in 1962 & worked at the WYO Barber Shop until 1970.  Bill moved the family to Dayton, WY in 1968, where he owned The Sport Shop in Dayton for many years, and then went into carpenter work until his retirement.He loved fishing, hunting, camping and going on pack trips with his family into the wilderness of the Big Horns. He will forever be remembered for the amazing stories he would tell and  his many wonderful jokes….Bill is survived by his daughter, Janet Wolney, and her husband, Rick, of Paradox, CO; his son, Steve Switzer, and his wife,  Anna, of Clearmont, WY; his son, Brent Switzer, and his wife, Twyla, of Ranchester, WY; his daughter, Carol Bickel, of Sheridan, WY;  and his 15 beloved grandchildren & many great-grandchildren.A service will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday November 19th, 2018 at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Ranchester, WY with Father Glenn Whewell officiating. Inurnment will take place next to his loving wife and son with Military Honors in the Dayton Cemetery.         Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
