In Loving Memory of Dennis Winfield Loomis

Dennis Winfield Loomis, 81, of Big Horn, Wyoming, passed away on November 2nd in the Big Horn Mountains — a place he loved and called home in every way.

Dennis was born on June 6th, 1944, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Wendell and Wyla Loomis. He grew up on the Gallatin Ranch in Big Horn, where his deep connection to the land and mountains began.

A proud member of the National Guard, Dennis lived a life of hard work, dedication, and service. He worked for Cook Ford before starting his own sprinkler business, which he ran successfully for many years. He generously gave his time as a volunteer firefighter and a member of Search and Rescue, always ready to help others in times of need.

Dennis was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Sheridan Wyoming and the Snomads. Forming many lasting friendships and enjoying the support of these communities. He loved riding motorcycles with the Razor City Riders, sharing adventures and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts.

He spent many years as a groomer for the Big Horn Mountains, ensuring the trails he loved were ready for others to enjoy. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dennis cherished every moment spent outdoors — especially at the family cabin in the mountains. Whether riding his four-wheeler or snowmobile, sharing stories around the fire, or laughing with family and friends, he found his greatest happiness in the simple, beautiful moments of life.

Those who knew Dennis will remember his generous heart, his love of adventure, and his unwavering devotion to family.

He is proceeded in death by Wendell and Wyla Loomis. He is survived by his brother, Marion Loomis (Judy) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his son, Tim Loomis of Sheridan, Wyoming; and his daughter, Kris Malli (LeRoy) of Arvada, Wyoming. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kailey Jensen (Jayden) of Wellington, Colorado; Riley Malli of Gillette, Wyoming; Colin Malli of Arvada, Wyoming; Winfield Loomis of Sheridan, Wyoming; Krista Malli; and Kerri Malli, both of Arvada, Wyoming. Dennis was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Oaklee and Kylo Jensen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 24th at 1:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Sheridan, Wyoming. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
