Edna Faye Moore, 89, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Green House Living of Sheridan.Edna was born on October 23, 1929 in Moundville, Missouri to Henry Earl and Josephine Demandy (Elliott) Sipes.Edna grew up in a large family that included one older half brother and sister, one older brother and five younger sisters, together they enjoyed playing music, singing and big family gatherings.On December 26, 1948, Edna married Jene P. Moore in Mineral, Illinois and together they had two daughters and one son. Edna ran a beauty shop out of her home in Sheffield and enjoyed socializing with her friends and neighbors as she worked. Edna spent many years teaching Sunday School and greatly enjoyed gospel music. In addition to being an excellent cook, Edna loved to play cards. She was especially fond of playing bridge both in Illinois and in Sheridan and was a member of several bridge clubs in her lifetime.In 1971, Edna and Jene moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and Jene became employed by Decker Coal Company.Edna and Jene enjoyed the mountains and traveling. They took many trips over the years, most of which involved visiting family along the way. They were married 67 years before Jene passed away in 2015. In addition to her husband, Jene, Edna was preceeded in death by her parents, her half brother Jake, half sister Margie, brother Glenn, and sisters Lois, Jenny, Shirley and Dauphine.She is survived by her sister Nancy, her children Jena (Tom) Atkinson of Sheffield, Illinois Sandy (Bryan) Turpin of Henry, Illinois and Brent (Dia) Moore of Sheridan, Wyoming along with many extended family including nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.It was the wish of both Edna and Jene to share a service celebrating their lives together.Please join their families and friends at the Sheridan Senior Center (the Hub) on Smith Street on August 20, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. or at the First United Church of Christ in Sheffield, Illinois on August 24, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Church of Christ, 201 East Chestnut Street, Sheffield, Illinois 61361.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
