Eva Marie Martin
About:
Eva Marie Martin was born on October 16, 1965, to Judith Kaye Birkle (Scheller) and Joseph “David” Barrett in Laramie, Wyoming. She passed after a short battle of cancer with her husband by her side.
She grew up on the open plains of Laramie Peak where she grew up on the family ranch. She received her education in a one room school until high school where she moved into Wheatland, Wyoming. She attended Wheatland High School and graduated in the spring of 1984.
In April of ’84 she married Ricky Schultz and they had two daughters, Tabitha and Ronni. They later divorced and Eva with the girls moved to Laramie for a brief time. She met Dustin Olson and later married in Wheatland, Wyoming. Eva, Dustin, and the girls moved to Sheridan in the summer of ’98. She became a grandma in the summer of 2002 at 35. She spent the first few years being full-time, Nana. Eva and Dustin divorced in 2005.
Eva met Matthew Martin in 2018. Their friendship continued to blossom and grow into their marriage in April 2022. Matt helped Eva spread her wings and experience traveling. They visited the Grand Canyon, the ocean in San Diego, Camp Pendleton, Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, Vegas, Moab, Sturgis, Redwood Forest, parts of Idaho, and rush hour traffic in southern California on the back of a Harley.
Eva enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides, coffee, true crime documentaries, and spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and dogs.
She had a special bond with her grandson Travis and doted on him. Travis returned this affection and enjoyed being with his Nana just as much as she enjoyed being with him.
Eva never met a stranger. She loved being a part of Celebrate Recovery and helping people work through some of the tough times and issues. Celebrate Recovery was very close to her heart as she celebrated 8 years of sobriety in March 2025. She also enjoyed Church, and life group.
She is proceeded in death by her Father Joseph Barrett, Baby Brother Larry Barrett (He just had to be first Lol), and Stepfather Denny Scheller.
She is survived by her Husband Matt Martin, Daughters Tabitha (Dominick) Adams, Ronni Schultz (John Duran), Grandchildren Jasmine Schultz (Matt Thompson), Dylan Schultz, Brookelynn Schultz, Kaila Duran, Travis Duran, and Great Granddaughter in the making Olivia Thompson.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Church on Saturday, November 22 nd, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with a reception to follow. We welcome everyone to write and share a story about Eva.
