About:

John Ellis Nield, 92, of Dayton, WY died September 22, 2015. “Jack” as he was known by in his home town of Afton, WY, was the son of Ellis and Ouida Linford Nield, loving husband, of Ilona Budnick Nield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. John is survived by his wife, and three children, Angela Nield Peppard, (Denny), Johann Nield, (Susan), and Christa Nield Spillane (John). He is also survived by his sister, Burma Nield Skinner, 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, also 5 great, great, grandchildren. John was a kind and gentle man and was the soul of the Nield family. He gave each of us, his family, our moral compass and was quick to smile and to tell a humorous story, mostly on himself. He had a strong faith in the LDS Church that sustained him all of his life. John was also a proud member of the Air Force and served during WWII, where he would tell us many stories, one about meeting our mother. He worked at the Post Office in Casper, WY, until he retired in 1973, moved to Afton to help in the care of his parents and then to settle in Dayton, WY, in 1992. John loved working on his coins and stamps and in his garden, however, his greatest joy, always, was the company of his family. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wendell Nield, his sisters, Rita Nield Hinks and Dixie Nield Anderson, and a grandchild, Heather Nield. This wonderful, extordinary man will be greatly missed by us all. Per Johns request there will be no funeral and at family’s request in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to “Make a Wish” foundation in John Ellis Nield’s Name. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
