Joyce Arlene Zak was born April 19, 1935 to Paul and Aileen (Breen) Miller in Baker, Montana. She passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY.Joyce was the oldest of three children. Her family moved to Big Horn when she was five, she attended school there, graduating from Big Horn High School in 1954. After graduation she worked at the Sheridan Inn. She married David Adamson on February 19, 1955, and moved to Dayton. Four children were born to this marriage, and they later divorced in 1967. David died on July 11, 1984. Joyce worked at the coil factory in Sheridan, after it closed she went to work in the kitchen at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. On February 22, 1969, she married John Zak. She continued working at the hospital, then in 1972, her and John purchased Joe\'s Place at Leiter, WY. John passed away on February 25, 1985. Joyce later sold the business and moved back to Sheridan. She cooked at Bear Lodge for a while and then went back to her job at the hospital and continued working there until she retired.Joyce loved spending time in the mountains and fishing the creeks up Red Grade with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching and reading mysteries, crocheting, gambling in Deadwood, playing cards and celebrating holidays with her family! She was an awesome cook and her fudge and divinity were to die for! Her inspiring strength taught us to never give up. She was very independent, kind and caring and an excellent listener, with a warm, infectious smile that always made you feel welcome. She loved life and was always helping someone, never expecting anything in return. She was so loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed!Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, sister, Dorothy Rudolf, brother, Terry Miller, son-in-law, Bob Weaver, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins and cats. She is survived by her children, Cathy McNealey (Mike), Jim Adamson (Kathy), Sandy Weaver and Donnie Adamson (Donna). 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Noyes (Derrick), Brian Pryor (Audrey), Scott Pryor, Angela Redd (Justin), Teri Adamson (Kyle Betcher), Samantha Minor (Ryan), Vanessa Long, Nathan Long (Kaitlynn), Linzee Krause (Hesston) and Shaylee Adamson, 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way and one great-great granddaughter with one great-great grandchild on the way! Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. And the granddog \"Marty McFly\".Mom, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure! You left us with wonderful memories that will never fade from our hearts. We love you!A luncheon of fellowship and story-telling with family and friends will be outdoors at Kane Funeral Home at noon on Saturday, September 12, 2020, everyone welcome, casual dress. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
