Larry D. McKee passed away Sunday, September 20 th , 2020 in Sheridan, WY at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 21 st , 1944 in Hematite, MO to Henry Seth McKee and Elene Carron Arnot. Larry spent his childhood in Missouri. He eventually became a Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson County Missouri.He then moved to Montana and served as a Deputy Sheriff in Park County. He then switched trades and moved into the road construction world and spent many years with McMurry Brothers Construction building roads all over including many in Wyoming.He met the love of his life JoAnne in Saratoga, Wyoming. They were married on September 19 th , 1986. They settled in Casper, Wyoming before venturing to Cooke City Montana in 1988. Larry tore down an old barn in Sunlight Basin and reused all of the old logs from the barn to construct a two-story log cabin in Cooke City for their home. While in Cooke City, Larry joined the United States Forrest Service. He retired from the Forrest Service in 2006. After a brief attempt at being snowbirds, they settled just north of Moorcroft, Wyoming. In 2017 they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming.Larry had many interests in life. He loved the outdoors and hard work. He was an avid hunter and was an amazing shot with his prized Browning Rifle. He enjoyed building things out of wood and loved to tinker with just about anything he could get his hands on.He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Seth McKee and Elene Carron Arnot, brother Kenneth McKee. He is survived by his wife JoAnne McKee of Sheridan, WY, brother Seth McKee of Middlebrook, MO, sisters Sylvia McKee Ivy and Suzanne English of St. Elmo, TX, his stepchildren Jason Green and his wife Sarah of Sheridan, Wy and John Green and his wife Lacey of Great Falls, MT, 4 grandchildren Lawrence, Shey, Devin and Eve and numerous nieces and nephews.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
