About:

Martha Ella McVay, “Marty” to her friends and family and called “Ms. Magoo” by her “partner in crime,” her youngest child Robbin, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.Marty was the most amazing, smart, creative person, with a wicked sense of humor. She loved to cook and bake. Her food was awesome! She loved to design and decorate, both interior and exterior and was very creative. Her floral designs were top notch. She was the best roomate ever!A true southern lady always full of kindness, she was a gentle, sweet spirit, full of grace with a quiet dignity. There is an old saying about the woman of the south who has “an iron fist in a velvet glove.”She was strong. She had to be. She had been through a lot in her 88 years. But, she never was bitter, or blamed anyone. She was quick to forgive throughout her life. She had a very close walk with God. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. She was selfless, always putting others before herself, even sometimes to her own detriment. She treated everyone equally with love and kindness, caring and respect, rich or poor, male or female, whatever or whomever they were; adult or child or animal. It didn\'t matter, she cared, loved, and prayed for them. She and her husband, Bob McVay, always prayed and lived by these very words. “God your will be done in our lives and home.” All were welcome to their home, even animals. As always, in her last days, her thoughts and prayers were of her children, though her children were scattered all over the U.S. She thought of us and prayed for us every day that we were safe and happy. She was so proud of the loving, creative, smart, wonderfull men and women we had become. She always replied when asked, “I have been blessed with five talented, creative children, 2 boys and 3 girls.” She leaves behind Jamie Finger (Tom), Steven Sweimler (Janet), Jenny Sweimler Huey (Willie), Joel Sweimler (Luis Veronese), and her “partner in crime” and baby, Robbin A. McVay, brother, Billy Ramsey (Bev), several grand children and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many other family and friends of the McVay\'s and Ramsey\'s. She also leaves behind 3 very special kitties, her furbabies, Mocha, Sasha and Ginger, her 26 years young cat. Her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” McVay preceded her in death on March 6, 2014.No Services are planned at this time. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
