Patricia Lee "Patsy" Powers
About:
Patricia Lee “Patsy” Powers, 71, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, after a long-term illness. A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, wife and friend, Patsy’s bright smile and gentle heart will forever be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Born on March 16, 1954, in Casper, Wyoming, to Robert and Patricia Meyer, Patsy grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of her five siblings—Mary (Mike) Gilmore, Kathy (Jo Ann) Meyer, Bobby (Susan) Meyer, Paul (Karen) Meyer, and David (Teri) Meyer.
In 1970, Patsy married Rob Dempsey, and together they welcomed two children. Later in life, Patsy married Tom Stevie and ultimately found lasting companionship with her husband Larry Powers and his beautiful daughter. Patsy and Larry shared deep love, laughter, and the simple joys of life until his passing in 2009. Family was always the center of Patsy’s world, and she found her greatest happiness in spending time with her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren cherishing every moment of their adventures together.
Patsy found fulfillment in a life of service and creativity. She worked for a time as a police dispatcher for the Sheridan and Evansville Police Departments, providing support and empathy in moments of need. Later, she shared her love of serving at Big Horn Animal Clinic and as a receptionist for Dr. Susan Snyder before ultimately landing her dream job working in the plant and flower shop at Carl’s IGA. Surrounded by the beauty of flowers, she brought her own life’s passion into her work each day.
Adventurous and full of life, Patsy loved the outdoors, camping, rock and arrowhead hunting and family trips to Glendo and the mountains. She took great pride in her blossoming garden, her countless birds and bird feeders, and her well-tended yard. A true artist at heart, she painted demolition derby cars and created delightful pet rocks with her grandchildren—each one a lasting reflection of her creativity.
Fondest memories are her many nights snuggled with her grand babies in bed, singing silly songs, eating Treasure chocolates and hours of storm watching and shadow puppets on the wall. Known for her compassion, loyalty, quick witted humor, and laughter, Patsy made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her warmth, kindred spirit, and unwavering love for family will continue to shine through the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Patsy is survived by all of her siblings, son Chris (Jordan) Dempsey, daughter Gerry Patch, stepdaughter Mary (Robert) Maher. Eleven grandchildren, Shantel (Kyle) Nash, Ashley (Michael) Garcia, Taylor Johnson, Brayden (Addison) Dempsey, Julian (Kayla) Vela, Austin (Shelby) Cunningham and Michael (Deja) Haywood, Charlie (Sophie) Maher, Patrick Maher, and Raiden Maher. With her lasting legacy in her cherished eleven great grandchildren Kaiden, Bridger, Elijah, RJ, Parker, Jazz, Clarice, Briar, Quincy, Gianna and Tatum.
Patsy is preceded by her parents, her husband Larry Powers, beloved brother in-law Michael Gilmore and sister in-law Jo Ann Dysert and her grandson Robert Maher Jr. (Little Bobby).
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring when travel is more agreeable. Patsy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Oregon Trail Veteran’s Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
