About:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Allen Stout, who peacefully left this world with family by his side on April 9, 2025, following a short illness at Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo, Wyoming. Bob was born on June 2, 1935 in Sheridan ,Wyoming at the old Sheridan Hospital.  Bob was raised on  Lower Prairie Dog and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1953.

Bob and his wife Lyla raised 3 children in Ranchester on their black angus and buffalo ranch.   For a number of years the family spent every summer in the hayfield doing contract haying for several local area  ranchers.  He also shared a contract school bus route with his wife up to Burgess Junction in the Big Horn Mountains for 13 years.

Bob was a man who never gave up.  He was a survivor of bladder cancer and a 6-way bypass heart surgery in 2013-2014.  Bob and his late wife continued to work hard after retirement by providing a professional janitorial service for many downtown Sheridan businesses. Bob also was a Powder River Bus Line driver for a number of years during his retirement years.

Bob was actively involved in his community. He belonged to the  Elks Lodge, ROTORY, a school board member for Tongue River, and water board member. Bob was  always quick to lend a helping hand to those in need. His skill and craftsmanship were evident in the three stick built homes he built, showcasing his talent and hard work. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and hard work.

What truly set Bob apart was his loyalty. He maintained lifelong friendships and was there for his friends through thick and thin, even in their passing. He enjoyed going to coffee early in the morning,  then tending his garden and sharing his produce with friends and family. Bob could be found often with a friend  fishing on a lake or beside a stream.  His unwavering support and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is survived by three children: Dorcas (Bill) Palone of Gillette, Robin Stout of Sheridan, and Jodene (Robert) Prusak of Ulm, WY. He has seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and two nieces who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their “Grandpa Bob”

Bob is preceed in death by his wife Lyla Stout, nephew Paddy Bard, half-sister Francis Bard, a daughter Anita Ann Stout, and both of his parents, Frank & Mary Stout. In honoring his memory, a celebration of life will be held this summer.

Bob's impact on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten. He will be dearly missed, but his wink, spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Bob/Dad/Grandpa Bob/Friend, your memory will forever be cherished.

Memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the donor’s choice.
