About:

Roger Russell Kistler, 76, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Sheridan Manor.Roger was born on October 28, 1942 in Mitchell, SD, and since he really disliked shoveling the Wyoming snow, decided to leave us on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 7:30 am.When Roger and older brother Eddie were small, the family moved to sunny California. As the boys grew, they were inseparable. They worked together learning how to raise chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys and rabbits on the small family farm in LA County. They also tended the large vegetable garden, and competed with each other on their sides of the garden, as to who was the best grower! They had many hunting and fishing adventures, and made lots of friends; both Roger and Ed agreed, it was a wonderful childhood! Sister Penny and then Shelley were born completing the family. Shelley loved and had a wonderful way with animals. Mom Goldie loved to tell how little Shelley would like to switch different litters of puppies and kittens around to different nursing mamas!Roger was a fan of baseball, and would skip school as a youngster to watch the World Series, not missing a single one! A big 49ers and NASCAR fan, and he took it hard when Dale Earnhardt died.Roger lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay area, and also in Sacramento. When his Dad suffered a stroke, he moved to Sheridan to care for him, and help his Mom with the cows, horses and haying, etc. on their place in Banner. When Keith entered Sheridan Manor, then Administrator Donna Schultz and staff saw how attentive Roger was to his Dad, and if there happened to be another resident nearby needing something. They asked him if he wanted a job. He became a CNA, and worked for many years at the Manor. Roger was dedicated, compassionate, and would come in to check on the residents on his time off, and also when he moved up to Admittance Coordinator. As he was nearing retirement, he went to work for Sugarland Ridge for his remaining working years.Preceeding him in death were his parents, Keith and Goldie Kistler, sister Penny and Winston the weiner dog. Surviving family include sister Shelley (Mac) McEvoy of Missouri, brother Ed (Annie) Kistler of Roseville, CA. Daughters Tami, Patty, Havin and Rene, and son Michael.
