Sally Ann Hartwig Gligorea passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She had just celebrated her 93rd birthday and was much loved by her husband, 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Sally gave lovingly and tirelessly of her time and energy to her family as well as numerous organizations of which she was a member.

Sally was born in Red Lodge, MT in 1931, the first child of 4, to Myrtle and Adolph “Dutch” Hartwig. She attended school in Thermopolis, WY until her freshman year of high school, when the family relocated to Sheridan, WY. There she continued her education and graduated. Her father was the head of the Ag Dept and FFA sponsor and her mother a teacher at the Wyoming Girls School.

She attended her freshman year of college at MacMurray Women’s College and as a sophomore transferred to the University of Wyoming. Sally married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Gene Gligorea, the fall of their senior year and graduated with degrees in both drama and speech. They were married for 72 years.

After graduation they had several moves but returned to Sheridan where they raised their family. They resided there until 1998 when they moved to Roswell, NM to start a new adventure.

In addition to the pride she had for her family, she was a sought-after substitute teacher and an aide at the Sheridan Hill School. She also worked at Kraft’s Jewelry for many years. She was a devoted member and leader of PEO Chapter T in Sheridan, WY and Chapter Z in Roswell, NM They resided in New Mexico for 22 years before returning to Sheridan 3 years ago. Sally loved reading and shared this enthusiasm by presenting programs for her various clubs. She was a proud, long-time member of the First Congregational Church, as well as many other local civic organizations.

Sally was proceeded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Adolph “Dutch” Hartwig, sister Gretchan Hartwig and son in law Curt Simmons (Cindy). She is survived by her husband Gene Gligorea of Sheridan, WY, daughters Carole (John) Weisz of Sheridan, WY, Cindy Simmons of Phoenix, AZ, and son Calvin (Mitzi) Gligorea of Des Moines, WA. Her grandchildren are: Adrienne Loveland, Aaron Weisz, Ashley Estes, Shane Gligorea, Gene Phillip Gligorea, Nicole Simmons and Drew Simmons and 9 “precious” great grandchildren. Her two brothers Charles (Khabira) Hartwig of Livermore, CA and Bob (Jan) Hartwig of San Diego, CA.

Sally loved being a wife, mother and friend. She will be missed for her genuine interest in others, love of Christmas and true love of life.

Burial will be in Sheridan, WY. Per her request, a small private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lunch Together program at the First Congregational Church.
