About:

Sharon Mae Onkka, 69 years old, of Sheridan, WY passed away at Sheridan Memorial Hospital on April 20th, 2025 at 400 p.m. with her children, favorite son-in-law and 3 grandchildren by her side.

Sharon Mae (Brown) Onkka was born on August 11,1955 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Violet and James Brown. She had two brothers, Cleve and Lloyd Brown.

She moved around to many different places living and loving her life, yet she always found her way back to Sheridan, WY where she called home.

Sharon was a natural born caregiver. She worked as a CNA most of her adult life doing what she did best by taking care of others. One of her best qualities was finding the good in people. No matter who they were, what they had done, or how they had lived, she was never one to judge but instead showed love and kindness.

Sharon loved to garden. She took great pride in her lumpy yard that she and her daughter, Danielle, tilled up and leveled out with rakes. She loved planting flowers and Irises and making birdhouses with her granddaughter, Alexus, who always told her, "Hold on grandma, I'm not heady yet." As time went on and she wasn't able to do all the things she needed, Sammi stepped up as she did in so many other ways to take care of it for her. Mom got the supervisor job then. It was an amazing peaceful place to sit and visit.

One of Mom's favorite things to do was to listen to Wesley's jokes. She loved a good sense of humor. She also loved to go camping with her kids and grand-kids. Just being outdoors made her free from all her worries.

Sharon lived for her children, grand-kids, and great grand-kids, Ismira and Makynna. She just loved life and everyone who was in hers. Sharon brought love, joy, humor and happiness to everyone she knew.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Cleve "Cyndy" Brown, her sons, Wesley Chauncey and Travis Chauncey, daughter Danielle "John" Atwell, daughter Sammi Morehead, grandchildren, Minna Munson, Ian Chauncey, Treven Chauncey, Zee Chauncey, Alexus Price, Shane Atwell, Sierra Atwell, Faith "Sherman" Husted, Buddy Atwell and great granddaughters, Ismira and Makynna.

Sharon is preceded in death by her grandparents and parents, James and Violet Brown and her brother, Lloyd Brown.
