Steven Robert RubyMarch 7, 1956 – July 20, 2019On Saturday, July 20, 2019, Steve passed away peacefully at home after a 13 year battle of kidney failure. He was born March 7, 1956 in Sheridan, WY to Louis and Elsa (Sturtz) Ruby. Steve attended Woodland Park School K-8th and graduated from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1974. That fall Steve and his friends made a road trip to Phoenix, AZ to attend the Arizona Institue of Drafting and Design Engineering. His passion for Art and Design started as a young child and continued through out his lifetime. Steve learned at a very young age how to run heavy equipment. He worked for his dad doing many jobs on the Big Horn Mountains along with his brothers and uncles. He was hired at Decker Coal in 1976 and started work on the East Decker End of the mine. He married Beth Catterall in November of 1978. They celebrated 40 enjoyable years together. Steve purchased a 410 John Deere backhoe and started Ruby Construction Co., LLC in 1979. The company grew over the years and finished with a 38 year career. He was so grateful for the opportunity that he had through the years of business, lifetime friendships, and great friends. A sincere thank-you to everyone. He will always be remembered as an Artist in Dirt.Steve was preceded in death by his father Lou, mother Elsa and brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Beth, brother Rocky of Mount Dora, FL, sister in law Michele (Bruce) Karlsson (SLC) nephews Jason (Wendy) Ruby of Gillette, WY, Allen Cluff (SLC), great nephew Parker Richardson, niece Leanne (Ryan) Richardson.
