View Service Folder|Click for Video Tribute Steven Joseph Hoyer, 63, of Big Horn, WY passed away at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital on October 24th, 2019. He was born on August 1st 1956, to Donald and Shirley Hoyer. Steve graduated from Sheridan High School in 1975, then earned an associate of Science in Engineering. After graduation, Steve took a job as a pit de-water technician at Decker Coal Mine. Throughout his 25 years, Steve obtained his Fire Fighter 1 certification was captain of the Mine Rescue team and became a certified EMT. After working at the mine, Steve joined the Big Horn Fire Department and seasonally fought fires for the Forest Service. In 2009 to 2011 Steve was named chief of the Big Horn Fire Department. Around the same time, he also worked as an electrician and eventually became a certified Journeyman. While Steve worked hard for much of his life, he was also a man who was full of love, life, and happiness. He married the love of his life, Francy Ruzicka, on November 9th, 1984. They started their life together in Big Horn, WY. Together they raised two daughters, Melissa and Megan Hoyer. Spending time with his friends and family was one of his greatest joys. Steve loved “Adventuring” in the Big Horn Mountains, hunting, taking pictures, playing pickleball and going on road trips. Steve was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Buckley and his parents Donald and Shirley Hoyer. He is survived by Francy Hoyer, his two daughters, Melissa Hoyer and Megan Hoyer, and his sisters, Kathy Hoyer and Michelle Jones. His stories, passion for adventure, and spunk will surely continue on through those who were fortunate enough to experience “it’s all about the love” from Steven Joseph Hoyer.A Viewing and Rosary will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Holy Name Church. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
