Sylvia went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2025 at the age of 87.Sylvia was born on August 27, 1938 in New Leipzig, North Dakota toWilliam Kautz and Martha (Jacober) Kautz, the third child of five.


Sylvia attended school and graduated from New Leipzig High School in 1956.She met the love of her life, Harvey Miller, while in high school and they dated all four years and married on August 12, 1956. Sylvia and Harvey moved to Louisiana where he was stationed in the Army. Their first child, Yvonne, was born in Louisiana. They then moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where they settled and raised their family, which included two sons born in Sheridan, Dwight and Ronald.

Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great sense of humor, infectious laugh and a hospitality spirit. She loved her friends and pets and enjoyed cooking her German heritage foods, baking, jewelry making, sewing, swimming, camping, gardening, canning, pickling, riding her bike, singing and dancing, playing board games, doing puzzles, playing the piano and all manner of crafts.


Sylvia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Friendly Neighbors Club, Good Sam’s “Sagebrush Bandits” club, the Red Hats Club, and a charter member of the Big Horn Mountain Eagles 4169. She had many hobbies and activities that kept her busy. Sylvia taught Sunday School, sold Avon and Amway, did volunteer work and worked at Babe’s Flowers for many years.


Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, John Cross; great-granddaughter, Brielle Jacqueline; brother-in-law, Elmer Kramer; son, Ron Miller; brother, Orville Kautz; husband, Harvey Miller and sister, Winifred Kramer. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Cross and fiancé Stephen Feldman; son, Dwight (Nan) Miller; daughter-in-law, Kelly Miller; granddaughter Courtney Purcell and fiancé, Brett Tovar; great- grandson, Tristan Purcell; sister-in-law, Holly Kautz; and sisters Doris (Norm) Gronwold and Janice (DeVerde) Nicklaus and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration Of Life will be Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 am Champion Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lee officiating. A luncheon reception will follow the service. Inurnment will take place in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery following the reception.
