Spud Murphy of Cheyenne and Sheridan, Wyoming died on September 7, 2015, at home. Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 10:00 on Monday, September 14, 2015.Spud was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 20, 1922, and graduated from the University of Wyoming. He joined the United States Marine Corps in December, 1941, and flew F4U Corsairs in the Solomon Island / Rabaul Campaign. He was awarded the Air Medal for his meritorious achievements. He married Kim Murphy in June, 1943 and they had three children, Michael Joseph Murphy, Mark J. Murphy and Mary Catherine Whalen. He married Inez Evans in September, 1976. He worked for Warren Livestock Company and Kendrick Cattle Company. Kim Murphy preceded Spud in death, as did his second wife, Inez Murphy, and his son Michael. Survivors include his son Mark Murphy, daughter, Mary Whalen, step children, Anthony Evans, Joseph Evans, Anne Marie Erickson and David Evans, and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials may be made in honor of Spud to the charitable organization of your choice, or to Sheridan Health Center, 31 E. Whitney St., Sheridan, Wyoming.Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
