About:

Agnes H. Madzia Legerski, 93, of Sheridan, passed away on November 1, 2011 at Johnson County Healthcare Center.

Agnes was born on September 29, 1918 in Monarch, WY to John Kawolok and Agnes Bachlet. Agnes was raised and attended school in Monarch. On November 21, 1937 she was united in marriage to Joseph Legerski at the old Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY.

Agnes made a living as a cook in many Sheridan restaurants, but her family was the center of her life. As she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Grandma Turkey”. Every Christmas had a cookie, every Birthday had a cake, she spent every minute thinking “What can WE make?’ She tended the garden, always helped a friend, made cinnamon rolls for Sunday, or hot food for the hunting men. She loved a good polka, and bingo at the church. She is our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, gone to the heavens until we see her again.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Paul and John; and her sisters, Helen and Frances. She is survived by her three sons, Dave, William (Shirley), and Robert (Gladys) all of Sheridan; her sister Alice (Tom) Warnke of Sheridan; her eight grandchildren, Matthew Legerski of Flagstaff, AZ, Nicholas Legerski of Puyallup, WA, Christine Legerski if Sheridan, WY, Donald Legerski of Sheridan, WY, Kevin (Mary) Legerski of Buffalo, WY, Brady (Lynell) Legerski, of Sheridan, WY, Gerald (Lexi) Legerski of Kleenburn, WY and Cheryl (Scott) Johnston of Cheyenne, WY; and her seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Legerski,; Tessa and Koby Legerski; Lexes, Kadance and Braden Legerski; and Kylee Johnston.

Memorial service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th, at Holy Name Catholic Church. A luncheon will follow in the Catholic Church Parish Hall. Arrangements made with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Agnes loved all animals, especially fond of her dogs, the birds in her window, and the squirrels on the lawn. Memorials can be made to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter or any organization in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
